These are 10 minute paintings.  Using personal iconography such as dresses, Zapotec images, narcissus bulbs, buffalo,  each square is a study in time. These separate works of paper were compiled into a larger single “quilt”. This piece served as my final project for my MFA degree.

These large works on paper were each rendered in a single session. The figure was my inspiration. I used charcoal, pastel and acrylic. I drew these in a life drawing class at the college of arts and crafts in Oakland under the guidance of  my teacher Franklin Williams who showed me how to walk inside my paintings and live there.
